The Cuyahoga County Engineer's OfficeCo-operative Education ProgramsCivil EngineeringThis program is designed for those students who are majoring in Civil Engineering (BSCE) and are attending universities that have accredited Bachelor of Science Engineering Programs as recognized by the Professional Board of Engineers and Surveyors within the State of Ohio and the Accreditation Board of Engineering Technology. SurveyingThis program is designed for those students who are majoring in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or Mapping. Students interested in either Co-op Program are required to coordinate a request through the University Co-op Coordinator prior to filling out an employment application with the Cuyahoga County Engineer's Office. Correspondence will be sent to the student after receiving appropriate materials (letter, transcript and resume) from a University Co-op Coordinator. The Co-op Programs are administered through the Cuyahoga County Engineer's Human Resource Department. Civil Engineering Co-op student applications will be sent to participating engineering department heads for review. Surveying Co-op student applications will be sent to the Survey Department for review. If there is an interest in the student, the department head will notify the Human Resource Department to schedule an interview. Civil Engineering Co-op students will be placed in the following departments as approved by the County Engineer:
Bridge Design Surveying Co-op students will be placed in the Survey department. The hourly pay scales have been established based on the number of Co-op work periods within the Cuyahoga County Engineer's Office as follows: First Co-op Period - $10.26 Co-op students will be considered full-time, temporary employees and are not entitled to full benefits such as hospitalization and vacation leave. They are, however, entitled to sick leave, in accordance with office policy. The students will be expected to follow all of the procedures and policies as stipulated in the Cuyahoga County Engineer's Employee Handbook and Policy Manual.
