CROCKER ROAD-STEARNS ROAD EXTENSION
PRE-CON
Description: Creating an extension of
Crocker Road-Stearns Road from Center Ridge Road to Lorain, and the
widening of Stearns Road from Lorain to I-480 in the Cities of North
Olmsted and Westlake.
Contractor: Fabrizi Trucking & Paving Co.

Project Cost: $13,299,797.20
Notice to Proceed: March 1, 2007

Funding: Federal Highway Administration through NOACA & Cuyahoga

Notes: Field Office is at the Kacirek Funeral Home
1. Start clearing from Lorain Road north
2. Then begin placing the storm sewers
3. Then begin working south from Center Ridge Road
4. Finally, work on section between I-480 and Lorain
Signs will be placed by I-480 and on the NW corner of Crocker/Center
Ridge
Traffic will be maintained with one lane for both directions.

PROGRESS
Fabrizi is currently placing a new storm sewer on the east side of
Stearns Road from I-480 to Lorain Road, per Pre-Phase.
Water services and hydrants on the east side have yet to be
relocated per Pre-Phase.
Temporary walk is being installed on left side per Phase I work.
Two-way traffic is being maintained during work hours using
temporary signals, expect minor delays.
Power lines are being relocated at the area of Lorain/Stearns.
Dominion East Ohio Gas is on the project to relocate portions of
main on Stearns, south of Lorain.
Crocker Road Extension has been cleared of trees from Lorain Road to
Center Ridge Road and the area is currently being drained.
Progress schedule indicates temporary pavement construction starting
early May on Stearns from I-480 to Lorain Road per Phase I.
After the installation of the temporary pavement, two-way traffic
will be diverted to west side of roadway per Phase 2, and will be
maintained.
Drainage work is to start at the north end of Crocker Road Extension
in May.

PROGRESS

Various lanes on Lorain will be closed during sewer work with
two-way traffic being maintained at all times.
Dominion East Ohio Gas is relocating portion of main on Stearns,
south of Lorain.
WOW and Time Warner are working on Stearns to relocate utility
lines.
New storm sewers, culverts and earth embankment for the Proposed
Crocker-Stearns Extension from Lorain to Center Ridge are being
reconstructed
No traffic restrictions on Center Ridge Road.

The temporary pavement construction on Stearns from I-480 to Lorain
has been pushed back to the second week in June due to utility
relocation.
After temporary pavement is installed, two-way traffic will be
diverted to the west side of the roadway.
Traffic will be shifter onto temporary pavement along the north side
of Lorain Road in July for construction of new pavement on south side.
Progress schedule indicates that the new pavement construction will
begin on Stearns in July and on the south side of Lorain in August

PROGRESS
The trunk sewer install is nearly complete on the east side of
Stearns Road from I-480 to Lorain Road.
Catch basins, storm sewer crossovers and residential laterals are
placed in same area, with cleanout relocation if necessary.
Box culver installation south of Lorain to begin within 2 weeks.
Two-way traffic is being maintained during work hour by using
temporary signals.
The contractor is constructing new storm sewers, culverts and earth
embankment for the proposed Crocker Road Extension from Lorain Road to
Center Ridge Road.
Earth moving operation and Biddulf ditch relocation is in progress.
Temporary pavement construction will begin this week on Stearns from
I-480 to Lorain Road.
After the installation of the temporary pavement, two-way traffic
will be diverted to the west side of the roadway for construction of the
new pavement.
In August, traffic will be shifted onto temporary pavement along the
north side of Lorain Road for the construction of new pavement on the
south side.
New pavement construction will begin on Stearns Road mid-July and on
the south side of Lorain Road in August.

PROGRESS
All sewer and water work and box culvert placement is completed on
Stearns from I-480 to Lorain Road.
Temporary pavement is placed on the west side of Stearns.
Two-way traffic is being maintained during work hours by use of
temporary signals and/or flagmen.
Existing 12" water main lowering in progress on Lorain Road west and
east of Stearns.
New storm sewer trunk line and crossovers are being constructed for
the proposed roadway. Trunk line to be completed this week with the
crossovers completed in two weeks.
On August 13, 2007, two-way traffic will be diverted to the west
side of the roadway from I-480 to Lorain.
In mid-August, traffic will be shifted onto temporary pavement along
the north side of Lorain Road for construction of new pavement on the
south side. Two-way traffic will be maintained.
The proposed sound walls are scheduled to be installed during winter
months.

PROGRESS
On Tuesday, May 13, 2008, Stearns Road will close between I-480 to
Lorain Road in the City of North Olmsted. The closure will begin at 6:30
a.m. and will only last the day.
Roadway will be closed to thru traffic, however emergency vehicles
and local residents will be granted entry.
