The Paving in Section 3, from Bagley Road to First Avenue is completed.

Grading and placing of topsoil for sod placement is currently being done.

Landscaping will begin this week. Completion for Section 3 is set for November 2009.

Traffic in this section is one-way northbound only from Bagley Road to Sheldon East

until November 2, 2009, after November 2, 2009, the roadway from Bagley Road to First Avenue will be open to two-way traffic.

Eastland Road from First Avenue to Sheldon East will remain one-way northbound only during Section 3 construction.

First Avenue is open to Depot Street and Bagley south.

Front Street north of First Avenue is closed.

Work on the CSX Railroad Bridge No. 50 in Section 1, First Avenue to just north of Sheldon West has begun. Installation of temporary rail bed and tracks will be completed in November 2009. The excavating, water and sewer work are to begin in November 2009, for Sheldon West.

This section is closed to through traffic for construction of proposed CSX Bridge No. 50. In this area, Eastland Road will be closed to all traffic between Sheldon East and Sheldon West for the duration of the CSX Bridge No. 50 and pavement construction.

Sheldon West is closed at Eastland Road.

Section 2, just north of Sheldon West to SR 237 is complete with the exception of punch list work.

Two-way traffic is maintained in this area with the exception of Eastland Road being closed at the south end near Sheldon West for CSX Bridge construction.

Beginning November 2, 2009 trucks accessing businesses on Eastland Road between Bagley Road and Sheldon East from Bagley Road or First Avenue as Eastland Road will be open to two-way traffic.

First Avenue is open from Front Street, southbound only to Bagley Road. Front Street north of First Avenue is closed.

Trucks to I-71 are to follow Sheldon Road east to Engle Road north to Snow Road.

Trucks will not be permitted onto Holland Road. Sheldon Road between Engle Road and Eastland Road is closed at Eastland Road.

Eastland Road cannot be accessed from Engle Road.

Eastland Road between Sheldon Road and State Route 237 can be accessed from SR 237.

On Friday, September 4, 2009, a new traffic pattern will take place. At 7:00 a.m., Eastland Road will be one-way northbound from First Avenue and Sheldon Road will be one-way eastbound. Detours will be posted. This traffic pattern is necessary in order to construct the new railroad bridge over the Eastland Road/Sheldon Road intersection.

    • The paving of Section 3, from Bagley Road to First Avenue is complete with the exception of intersection work at Bonds and Robin. Grading is currently being done for sidewalks and driveways. However, in a few areas, water, sewer and electrical work are left. Landscaping will begin in mid-September and will last till October. This section will be completed in November 2009.
    • Traffic in this section is one-way northbound only from Bagley Road to Sheldon East until construction is complete in this section. Eastland Road, from First Avenue to Sheldon East, is open to two-way traffic during Section 3 construction.
    • Work on the CSX Railroad Bridge No. 50 in Section 1, First Avenue to just north of Sheldon West, has begun. Currently in progress is the installation of necessary items for the temporary railroad. The excavation, water and sewer work are on hold for Sheldon Road.
    • This section is closed to thru traffic for construction of the proposed CSX Bridge No. 50. In this area, Eastland Road will be closed to all traffic between Sheldon East and Sheldon West for the duration of the CSX Bridge construction. Sheldon West is closed at Eastland.
    • Section 2, just north of Sheldon West to SR 237, is complete with the exception of punch list work. Landscaping is almost complete.

  • Section 3 (Bagley Road to First Avenue) is complete with the exception of the sidewalk, residential drives and landscaping. The storm sewer work in Phase B (on the east side of the roadway) is nearly complete. Existing pavement has been removed and work is underway to place proposed intersections. Section 3 is scheduled for completion on October 1, 2009. Currently, traffic in this section is one-way northbound from Bagley Road to Sheldon East for Phase B pavement construction. However, Eastland Road is open to two-way traffic from First Avenue to Sheldon East.
  • Section 1(First Avenue to just north of Sheldon West) work on CSX Bridge No. 50 is expected to start in mid-August. In addition, excavation and water & sewer work is underway on Sheldon West. Section 1 is closed to thru traffic for construction of proposed CSX Bridge No. 50. Eastland Road will be closed to all traffic between Sheldon East and Sheldon West in this area for the duration of the bridge construction. Sheldon is currently closed at Eastland.
  • Section 2 (just north of Sheldon West to SR 237) is nearly complete with the exception of minor work. Landscaping is nearly complete in this section. In this section, traffic is two-way with the exception of Eastland being closed at the south end near Sheldon West for the construction of CSX Bridge No. 50.
  • Note:
    • Trucks must access businesses on Eastland Road between Bagley and First Avenue from Bagley Road only.
    • Trucks can access businesses between First Avenue and Sheldon East from either Bagley Road or Sheldon East via Engle Road.
    • Southbound traffic will be prohibited at First Avenue. Truck to I-71 should follow Sheldon east to Engle north to Show Road. First Avenue is closed at Front Street per ODOT’s Front Street project. This is expected to re-open August 1st. Once open, two-way traffic from First Avenue to Bagley Road will be allowed on Front Street. However, Front Street north of First Avenue will remain closed.

  • During this operation, Eastland Road will be closed at Bagley Road, except for residents. All other traffic will be detoured via Engle Road to Sheldon Road or Front Street to First Avenue. Police will be directing traffic throughout the entire work day. Major traffic delays are expected.

  • Residents of Williamsburg Court will be affected by this work. During work hours, upon leaving their residence, they must use Eastland Road northbound.   • Storm sewers and water work items have been completed in Section 3. Eastland Road is one-way traffic northbound from Bagley Road to First Avenue for pavement construction. Southbound traffic is detoured. During this time, Eastland Road, from First Avenue to Sheldon East, is open to two-way traffic. During this time, any truck that must access a business on Eastland Road, between Bagley Road and First Avenue, will be able to enter from Bagley Road only.

Southbound traffic will be prohibited at First Avenue. Trucks needing to access I-71 should follow Sheldon East to Engle North to Snow Road.

  • Work in Section 1 on the CSX Railroad Bridge No. 50 has been delayed and will begin in June 2009. When work commences on the bridge, Eastland Road will be closed to all traffic between Sheldon East and Sheldon West for the duration of the bridge construction.Work in this section on water, sewer and excavation involving Sheldon West will begin in May 2009.
  • Section 2 is almost completed with the exception of landscaping and minor work. Landscaping is to start the week of May 4th.

  • Storm sewers and water work items are currently being installed from Bagley Road to First Avenue. This work is scheduled for completion in mid-April.
  • Pavement construction from Bagley Road to First Avenue is set to start April 13.
  • Work on the CSX Bridge #50 is currently set to start at the end of April. This is closed to thru traffic for construction of the bridge.
  • Eastland Road from just north of Sheldon West and SR 237 is nearly complete.
  • Currently, two-way traffic is being maintained during work hours using flagmen from Bagley Road to First Avenue. However, on Monday, April 13, 2009, traffic in this area will be one-way northbound only from Bagley Road to Sheldon East for pavement construction on the west side of the roadway. Southbound motorists will be detoured. During this period, Eastland Road from First Avenue to Sheldon East will be open to two-way traffic.
  • During this time, any truck that must access a business on Eastland Road, between Bagley Road and First Avenue, will be able to enter from Bagley Road only.
  • Southbound traffic will be prohibited at First Avenue. Trucks needing to access I-71 should follow Sheldon East to Engle North to Snow Road.

PROGRESS

  • The contractor will finish placing reinforced concrete pavement on the left side of Eastland Road between Sheldon Road and SR 237 the week of 10/13-10/17. All castings will be adjusted in the roadway to grade in the same locations.
  • Catch basins and exfiltration trenches will be set during the week f 10/20-10/24.
  • Topsoil will be placed in all areas that have been disturbed where reinforced concrete pavement, drive aprons and sidewalk have been placed.
  • On Friday, October 31, 2008, Eastland Road, from the north side of Sheldon Road, will be opened to two-way traffic. Once this pavement has been opened, the Sheldon Road and Eastland Road intersection will be closed to all traffic. This closure will last for a period of 18 months to perform section 1 of this project. Any traffic that will be required to travel on Eastland Road north of Sheldon Road must enter from either SR 237 or Holland Road.

PROGRESS

  • The contractor will be completing the 260mm reinforced concrete pavement on the right side of Eastland Road from north of Sheldon Road to just south of the Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks at SR 237.
  • The placement of concrete for all drive aprons on the right side of Eastland Road will be completed this week.
  • The installation of the precast arch culvert over Abram Creek is complete.
  • Northbound traffic on Eastland Road north of Sheldon Road will be switched onto the new pavement on Monday, September 22, 2008.
  • Concrete pavement on the left side of Eastland Road is scheduled to be completed by the end of October 2008.
  • Once paved, Eastland Road will be open to two-way traffic, the Eastland Road and Sheldon Road intersection will be closed to all traffic. At that time, the contractor will resume work on the replacement and realignment of the CSX Railroad Bridge No. 50R at that intersection.
  • Two-way traffic south of Sheldon is being maintained.
