  • The existing aprons and sidewalks have been removed on the east side of Stearns Road.
  • The placement of topsoil and grass seed on the east side of Stearns Road has been completed.
  • -The placement of concrete pavement, curbs, driveway aprons and sidewalks are complete.
  • The placement of traffic signalization continues.
  • Guard rail placement and signage are complete. All permanent pavement markings have been placed.
  • Stearns Road was reopened to two-way traffic on August 24, 2009, a year earlier than the contract completion date.
  • Work to take place the month of September: completion of traffic signalization and completion of punch list items.

PROGRESS

  • Traffic remains one-way southbound on the west side of Stearns Road from I-480 to 1,000 feet south of Cook Road.
  • Existing pavement, aprons and sidewalks on the east side of Stearns Road and the east end of Cook Road.
  • Underdrain has been placed, castings have been adjusted and concrete has been placed for new pavement and curb at the Cook/Stearns intersection and on Stearns Road from Cook Road to the north end of the project.
  • Traffic signalization is being placed at the Cook/Stearns intersection.
  • Cook Road was opened to through traffic on July 9th.
  • Work for August includes: completing the placement of new concrete drive aprons, sidewalks and landscaping on the right side of Stearns Road, completion of signalization and reopening Stearns Road to two-way traffic.

  • Traffic remains one-way southbound on new pavement on the west side of Stearns Road from I-480 to 1,000 feet south of Cook Road.
  • Landscaping operations have been completed.
  • The placement of concrete for new pavement, curb, walk and drive aprons has been completed on the west side of the road.
  • The existing pavement, aprons and sidewalk are currently being removed on the east side of Stearns Road north of Dorchester Road and the east end of Cook Road.
  • Concrete is being placed for new pavement and curb at the Cook/Stearns intersection and Stearns Road south of the intersection.
  • Work expected for the month of July includes: pavement removal, cement stabilization and placement of pavement curb and aprons and sidewalks on the east side of Stearns Road.

  • The placement of Type 2 water quality control structures has been completed.
  • New 12" ductile iron water main and hydrants have been placed.
  • Sanitary and storm line trenches have been excavated and concrete has been placed in these trenches for the safety of the motoring public.

  • New traffic pattern is now in effect: southbound traffic only from the 1-480 overpass to Cook Road. Two-way traffic permitted north of the overpass.
  • Work to take place in April includes pavement removal, subgrade stabilization and placement of concrete for new roadway.

  • The change of the traffic pattern has been delayed. Initially, it was to change on Thursday, May 28, 2009. However, due to impending weather, this will now occur on Monday, June 1, 2009 and will last for 3-4 weeks.
  • At this time, the eastern half of Stearns Road from I-480 to 1,000 feet south of Cook Road will be closed. Southbound traffic will be maintained on the western half of the roadway. In addition, the eastern half of the Cook-Stearns intersection will be closed.
