PROGRESS

Section 2—(800’ west of) State Road to Broadview Road

  • On Thursday, July 30, 2009, and on Monday, August 3, 2009, the surface course of asphalt was placed on this stretch of roadway. All lanes of traffic were restored as of August 4, 2009. Temporary striping has been placed for maintenance of traffic.

Work to be expected during the upcoming weeks includes:

    • Backfilling/landscaping at areas along the back of new curbs.
    • Continue placement of new type G reflective signage (in Sections 1 & 2).
    • Removal of temporary striping and install permanent #645 polyester pain markings.
    • General clean-up.

PROGRESS

Section 2—(800’ west of) State Road to Broadview Road

  • Rehabilitation work is currently on the south side of Snow Road with two-way traffic (one lane in each direction) maintained on the newly placed asphalt intermediate course on the north side of the road. Delays are to be expected during construction hours.

Work to be expected during the upcoming weeks includes:

    • Completion of full-depth repairs to the existing concrete base.
    • Begin to identify/mark areas designated for partial asphalt depth repairs.
    • Placement of intermediate asphalt on top of repaired concrete base surfaces.
    • Backfilling/landscaping at areas along the back of new curbs.
    • Remove, inspect and rebuild/adjust to grade various manhole, catch basin and water valve castings. New iron casting will be used in areas as designated.
    • Remove and reconstruct existing sidewalk curb ramps to ADA compliance.

    • Continue to identify failed concrete/joint areas, saw cut, remove and prepare for & place reinforced MS pavement.
    • Remove, inspect, rebuild/adjust to grade various manholes, catch basins and water valve castings.
    • Remove and reconstruct existing sidewalk curb ramps to ADA compliance.
    • Place new type-G reflective signage in Sections 1 & 2.

Section 2—State Road to Broadview Road

    • On Friday, March 27, 2009, a work zone was established to resume the work of repairing and resurfacing Snow Road from approximately 800’ west of State Road to Broadview Road intersection. At this time, work will occur on the north side of the road while two-way traffic (one lane in each direction) will be maintained on the south side. Delays can be expected.

Work expected in the upcoming weeks:

    • Removal of existing asphalt surface wearing course.
    • Concrete pavement in need of full depth or partial depth repairs will be identified and marked for removal and replacement.
    • Begin to saw cut, remove and prepare marked pavement areas for placement of new concrete.
    • Remove and inspect existing roadway castings, rebuild and adjust to grade various manholes, catch basins and water valve castings. New iron casting will be used in areas as designated.

    • The asphalt intermediate course has been placed and the castings have been adjusted to grade.

Phase B—South Side of Snow

    • The existing asphalt material has been removed from the surfaces of pavement along Snow Road and the intersections of W. 54th St., W. 60th St. and W. 67th St.
    • Partial/full depth repairs to the existing concrete base are being identified for removal and replacement
    • Catch basins are being adjusted to grade.

Section 1—State Road to Ridge Road

Phase A—North Side of Snow

    • This section of work has been completed pending the final paving of surface course scheduled for later this year. Currently, two-way traffic is being maintained on this section of roadway.

Phase B—South Side of Snow

    • The contractor continues to saw, cut and remove partial and full depth sections of existing pavement that were previously identified as deteriorated.
    • All catch basins, manholes and water valves are being adjusted or reconstructed to grade. This includes the placement of new metal castings.

Section 1—State Road to Ridge Road

Phase A—North Side of Snow

    • All pavement repairs, casting adjustments, curb ramp reconstruction and asphalt resurfacing have been completed. On September 24, all barrels and signs were removed and Snow Road was opened to full width traffic, curb to curb.
    • In the upcoming weeks, punch list items will be completed, along with the installation of pavement markings to include new stop lines, cross walk lines and school zone markings.
